Log a check and its expenses
Add every gross check, or combine several checks from the same pay period. Existing income, expense, and mileage records are included automatically.
Saved checks appear in Income. Expense totals appear in Expenses as “Other” for preparer review. Keep supporting receipts and avoid duplicate entries.
Your filing details
Choose your filing status. If you also receive W-2 wages, include those amounts through Oct 3, 2026 to improve the estimate. When changing payment periods, update these amounts to that period’s cutoff.

How the automatic estimate works
Using records from Jan 1 through Oct 3, 2026 (276 days), the app projects net business profit at $0.00 for the year. This projection is calculated for you; you do not enter an annual income forecast. The projected income tax is $0.00, self-employment tax $0.00, and Additional Medicare tax $0.00.
For 2026, the model uses progressive federal brackets, the basic standard deduction for your filing status, and a deduction for half the regular self-employment tax. Self-employment tax uses 92.35% of profit, 12.4% Social Security up to the wage limit, and 2.9% Medicare, plus applicable Additional Medicare tax. It uses 90% of the projected annual tax, less projected withholding, apportioned over four installments; entered federal payments reduce the amount shown.
This is an earnings-pace projection using the equal-installment approach, not the IRS Schedule AI annualized-income calculation. Uneven or late-start income can require different installments. It excludes QBI deductions, tax credits, itemized/age-related deductions, retirement and health-insurance adjustments, capital gains, AMT, state taxes, and prior-year safe harbor. Those items can materially change the amount. Use Advanced or your tax professional for those cases. A late payment does not erase earlier penalties.
Advanced: calculate payments from a full-year tax estimate

Planning inputs stay in this session while this tax year is selected. They are not saved as ledger records.
2026 federal payment dates
Next scheduled due date: January 15, 2027
| PAYMENT / INCOME PERIOD | DUE DATE | PLANNED INSTALLMENT | PAID FOR THIS PERIOD ($) | CUMULATIVE GAP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Payment 1Jan 1 – Mar 31 | Date passed | — | — | |
Payment 2Apr 1 – May 31 | Date passed | — | — | |
Payment 3Jun 1 – Aug 31 | Date passed | — | — | |
Payment 4Sep 1 – Dec 31 | Next due date | — | — |
Cumulative gap compares the target through each period with your entered payments through that period and applied credit. Enter payments in the period they were actually made. “Date passed” does not mean unpaid. Later payments do not erase earlier underpayment penalties.
Before you pay
This federal planner assumes a calendar-year individual using four equal installments, beginning with the first due date. Irregular or late-start gig income may qualify for the annualized income installment method. It does not calculate penalties, state taxes, or special farming/fishing rules. No-tax-liability prior-year exceptions and disaster extensions may change what is required. Review those cases with your tax professional.
The January payment may be omitted if you file and pay the full balance by February 1, 2027 under the IRS instructions.
